Project W to host philanthropy, women’s Giving Circles info session on Giving Tuesday, open to the public
At times, you can feel too small to make a difference all alone. However, when many band together, they can make a true impact. And now, one such team is going to share its methods, and all are welcome to learn more.
Project W is a women’s giving circle of Delaware County, and on this Giving Tuesday, they aim to spread the word about not only the organization, but how it all works.
“We are a community of like-minded women who believe in the power of collective giving to create real change, locally, in our own community,” said Carol Lunger, a member of Project W. “Project W was founded by a small group of neighbors in Delaware County who asked themselves, ‘How can we do more together?’ And the answer was Project W – a vibrant giving circle that inspires action and impact.”
The organization works to help others in a variety of ways.
“There are many members of our community who need help in all areas – and Project W’s collective giving model makes it easy to assist organizations in Delaware County who strive every day to help those in need,” said Lunger.
To understand more about what a “giving circle” is, the public is invited to attend an information session hosted by Project W. With a featured speaker from CASA Youth Advocates, guests will hear about the benefits of being a part of a giving circle, welcome new Project W members, and understand how interested individuals can learn more about how they can make a difference in Delaware County.
Lunger said that the organization operates to make a difference. The event, which is open to all, has a specific goal.
“[We work] to promote philanthropy toward women in Delaware County through edification and support of Project W grantees,” she explained. “To spread the word about the many needs within our community and the ease with which individuals can make a huge impact. And to spread the word about how giving circles work.”
The day will be hosted by Project W. The Delaware County-based women’s giving circle with more than 150 members, has distributed nearly $500,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of women in Delaware County.
The informational sessions will be held on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ship Bottom Brewery, located at 5 Park Ave., in Swarthmore.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Project W’s 2025 award recipient, is a non-profit organization serving children and youth who are experiencing the child welfare system in Delaware and Chester counties.
“CASA empowers community members to serve as volunteer advocates who represent the best interest of dependent youth in court,” said Lunger. “CASA’s mission is for every child to have a safe and permanent home.” A spokesperson from CASA will also speak at the informational event.
Those interested in attending the event can reach Carol Lunger for more information at telephone 610-574-0576 or email: [email protected]. For more on Project W, visit https://projw.org/.
