New Lansdowne YMCA Early Learning Center slated to start in June

The YMCA of Eastern Delaware County will be opening its new Lansdowne YMCA Early Learning Center at the Delaware County Community College in June.

Early childhood education experts designed the new state-of-the-art facility, officials said.

Some of the features include:

  • Enhanced security entry system with access cards for parents
  • Each classroom will have bathrooms, a food prep area, and greater storage
  • New outdoor equipment with an emphasis on nature
  • Convenient parking
  • Accessible with elevator access to all floors
  • High-quality curriculum with play-based learning experiences
  • New and updated materials 
  • A hands-on approach to learning
  • YMCA staff that is fully trained 
  • A mentorship program with the college for students pursuing degrees in education and related fields.

This collaboration expands opportunities for our entire community to experience the Y’s cause‑driven mission in action—strengthening youth development, fostering healthy families, and supporting a stronger, more connected Upper Darby.”

The YMCA of Eastern Delaware County has served the community since 1999. 

Officials said they were “proud to partner with Delaware County Community College.”

The new Early Learning Center will be located on the college’s Southeast Campus in Drexel Hill, behind the Archbishop Prendergast building.
