DCTS cosmetology salon helps students learn to be a cut above the rest

On Dec. 12, Delaware County Technical High Schools (DCTS) opened its annual cosmetology salon, offering a range of beauty and self-care services — and even more critically, real-world experience for students.

DCTS, which is part of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, offers the salon to allow students in its cosmetology program “the foundation they need for lifelong learning and success in the beauty industry.” For customers, the offerings include haircuts, coloring and styling as well as facials and manicures — performed by students but guided by industry professionals.

The DCTS cosmetology program is a three-year, 1,250-hour training program that prepares graduates to take the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology examination. The program is offered at both the Aston and Folcroft campuses.

Members of the community who are interested in booking an appointment at the DCTS cosmetology salon should call 610-583-7620, ext. 9210.
