Stonehurst Hills Elementary School’s fifth grade gets a special visit from UDPD

Students can learn a lot from their teachers, but sometimes it takes a special guest to make a lesson really stick. The fifth graders in Miss Conti’s class at Stonehurst Hills Elementary got to experience that phenomenon first-hand recently with a unique reading event.

Officer Anothony Bateman of the Upper Darby Police Department stopped by to read them a book and talk about making good decisions. The officer often charged with handling the department’s Community Affairs, took time out to take part in the important day.

The classroom, along with its teacher and special guest, came together to read a book with a crucial lesson: “Band Together Against Bullying,” and also discussed the topic with one another.

The students were incredibly grateful for the visit, as well as the important life lessons shared along the way.
