Sign installation to cause lane closure on Baltimore Pike in Lansdowne

Drivers traveling through Lansdowne may soon encounter traffic backups as crews work on improvements that are aimed at reducing crashes caused by lane departures in the area. And the headaches begin today.

As part of a $3.5 million project funded by federal dollars, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be installing signs on Baltimore Avenue from March 19 through March 27. The sign installation will cause crews to close one lane on Baltimore Avenue at the intersection with Mansfield Road/Martin Drive on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — although all activities are weather-dependent.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area, PennDOT said, “because backups and delays will occur.”

Elsewhere in Delaware County, crews will be replacing 3,500 feet of water main on Township Line Road in Haverford and Upper Darby townships starting March 22. And starting on March 23 PECO Energy is scheduled to perform utility construction on Burmont Road in Upper Darby Township.
