Phillies to sign RHP Brad Keller to 2-year deal
The Phillies and RHP Brad Keller have agreed to a two-year/$22 million contract, according to ESPN‘s Jesse Rogers. Robert Murray of FanSided first broke that the two sides were ‘closing in’ on a multi-year pact.
Keller, 30, is coming off of a tremendous season with the Chicago Cubs that saw him post a minuscule 2.07 ERA and 2.93 FIP across 68 games. Right-handed batters hit just .148 with a .466 OPS against Keller last season. Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies have been looking for another right-handed leverage arm to add to a bullpen thin on such options outside of Jhoan Duran, and Keller could obviously fill that role.
It is at least worth mentioning that Keller — who has also previously pitched for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox — does have 117 career starts as well.
