Student gamers are invited to Upper Darby Township’s Mario Day event
Mamma Mia! It is like the day was already named for him anyway!
And in Upper Darby Township, March 10 (get it, MAR10) will be hosting its third annual Super Mario Bros. Video Game Event, and students in sixth through 10th grades are invited to attend.
Mario fans who come to the event can expect a wide variety of games to choose from, such as Mario Kart, Mario Party, 3D World and Smash Bros.
Upper Darby Township Recreation will hold the event at the township building (100 Garrett Rd.) from 6-8 p.m., and participants must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Attendees must be residents of Upper Darby Township, and space is limited.
“Mario Day” is celebrated by fans around the globe on March 10 because the date abbreviation, Mar10, resembles the name Mario. Nintendo has recognized Mario Day since 2016, and the “holiday” typically features sales on Mario games, special events and community celebrations to honor the iconic character.
